Today was one of the most productive days I’ve had in the past week. Mainly because I’ve been bedridden for the past few days with a virus and been itching to have the energy to do something other than sleep or stay in bed and watch ‘How I Met Your Mother’.
I went on an OCD-level Spring-cleaning frenzy to declutter as well as de-bacteria the apartment and as crossed off a number of days in my 10 Day Decluttering Challenge.
The challenge is simple: on Day 1 I’ll remove 1 item, on Day 2 I’ll remove 2 items and so on so by the end of the Challenge I will have removed a total of 55 items.
Today, I ransacked my shoe wardrobe and beauty cabinet. It was quite surprising how much I can store in 2m x 1m x 0.5m space where I keep both shoes and beauty products. And that’s before I even start on my wardrobe!
The things I threw out included reading/sunglasses cases, random make-up cases, old make-up, birthday cards, costume jewellery, hair products, skin creams and an old pair of Zara shoes which didn’t even last 6 months of wear.
Things I will put aside to sell include a pair of designer shoes that I bought and never wore and some beauty accessories.
Over and over again, the same trend appears: the better quality the item is, the longer it lasts. Cheap products break down quickly and cost more in the long run.
Here’s the tally:
Total items thrown: 14
Total items donated: 0
Total items selling/sold: 4
Total items purged: 18

Tip to keep clutter to a minimum……don’t buy too much to start with. I know that is hard for your and your love of fashion!!! You probably would’t approve of $7 denim shorts from Big W……….
I think I need to start approving of $7 shorts from Big W! Especially when I spend too much and then it’s a long wait until the next paycheque…
