It’s been a while since I posted and my net worth update is long overdue. Today marks exactly 4 months in Melbourne which seems like has flown by in a blink of an eye yet at the same time it feels like I’ve been here for much longer. Many times it has been a test of resilience and over times it has been an exceptional opportunity which never would have come up in any other circumstance.
This past month I spent more time ‘seeing’ Melbourne, going out, having fun and enjoying life which showed up as two main expenses: food and alcohol. I’ve explored wineries, restaurants, bars, concerts and literally eaten my way through Melbourne. I’m not so proud of my inconsistent diet which fluctuated from healthy to fast food and back again, where all the take-away raised my food expenses ten-told however enjoyed (finally) having a social life.
After all the craziness over the past few months, I started focusing less on getting work done and instead on personal development by building a routine of learning something new every day, meditating, doing yoga, exercising in the morning and eating well. The more I kept to this routine, the more I noticed a positive outlook in life and increase in happiness. Second to feeling more centred, a proud moment was completing my 6 month emergency fund worth $14,000.
So what is my April net worth?
I saw a bump in superannuation since January and the completion of my emergency fund which were the main reasons for my ~$5k increase in net worth. I received a small amount of dividends this quarter which was re-invested into shares.
Another addition to my net worth chart is adding a ‘shopping sinking fund’ to the equation. While this fund will be depleted in time, it’s worth noting giving that it’s still cash that I hold.
